Virat Kohli gears up to break MS Dhoni’s record when India plays WTC final against New Zealand

The final match of the World Test Championship will be played between India and New Zealand from 18 June. The moment Virat Kohli steps on the field for the final Test match, he will achieve a big feat in his career. While leading Team India for the WTC final, Virat Kohli will become a captain who led India to the hightest number of Test matches. And If, he wins this match, then he will reach number four position on the list of most successful captains in the world. So far the Indian team has played 60 Test matches under the captaincy of Kohli which equals former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Virat Kohli will register the record of captaining most Test matches for India as soon as he takes the field in the final of WTC from June 18. Kohli would have achieved this record against England earlier this year. But due to the birth of the first child, he did not play the last three Test matches against Australia. In these matches, Team India was captained by the vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane. With a Test match win, Kohli will become the fourth most successful captain in the world and will surpass West Indies legend Clive Lloyd in the list of captains who have won the most matches.

West Indies team played 74 Test matches under the captaincy of Clive Lloyd, out of which his team won 36 matches. The record of winning the most number of times as captain is named after Graeme Smith of South Africa, under whose captaincy the South African team won 53 matches out of 109 matches. At number two is former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, under whose captaincy the Australian team played 77 Test matches and won 48 matches. At number three comes Steve Waugh, who led the Australian team to 41 wins out of 57 matches.
