IPL 2021: Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara expresses concern over MI’s current form
Mumbai Indians’ performance in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League has been nothing more than of an average team. Despite being laden with impressive batsmen and tough bowlers in the squad, the team lost three of the total five matches played so far and is placed at No. 4 on the Points Table with only 4 points. Recently, former West Indies captain and legendary batsman Brian Lara expressed concern about the team’s poor form.
While speaking on Star Sports’ pre-show ‘Cricket Live’ Lara said – “I mean, it’s such a tournament that it’s so hard to say. I think the teams that are winning, like RCB, they will go to every venue with confidence. I think teams without confidence will see venues as a problem, they would see pitches as a problem,”
“I’m worried about Mumbai Indians. They are now going to another venue, which again, is a bit sluggish. How are they going to perform? I’m very, very worried about the double champions,” he added.
So far in the tournament, Mumbai has struggled with their middle-order. The team’s aggressive hitters like Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard have not been able to put up a strong show. The team’s next match is to be played against Rajasthan Royals at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on 29 April at 3:30 PM. Rajasthan too has lost 3 out of 5 matches played and are placed 7th on the Points Table with 4 points.
